Self worth of the Soul

SELF WORTH OF THE SOUL

One of my most profound encounters this year was with my actual grandmother. I went to visit her and she shared with me a story before taking me to catch my train.

She said, ‘ Jasmeen, I read a beautiful article in the newspaper lately that I want to share with you’, she then continued on to say,

‘God couldn’t understand something about his creation so he spoke to an Angel
‘ Explain to me what is missing, I have given man and woman everything, senses, intelligence, brains, heart and soul and yet what is missing that would cause him such disconnection and suffering?’
And the Angel responded with : ‘ Self worth’.

My grandma and I stood there with tears in our eyes, this ancestral knowing that this be true, that indeed we have been given all, but a true self worth.

I have reflected on this and have found there to be 2 self worths. The Self worth I see derived from a doing and action, and the one of the ‘being’ nature of the Soul.

It seems that societal conditioning connects our self worth with accomplishment. The more you achieve the more reason you have to feel worthy. To be ahead of the game, to be ‘ successful’ especially the amount of money one has cultivated as a symbol of value .So now the internet is full of new programmes to improve, to have a better relationship, a 6 figure business, to become better than, to rise to the stars, to be more spiritual, more fit and more healthy, more cleansed, more toned, a better parent, a better child, and more, more , more.
Nothing wrong with growing and getting more alive and present, and yet through working with groups and individuals for a number of years now, the drain for so many upon the delicate soul that doesn’t really care for better and more, it just silently looks out of the heart whispering ‘ Am I enough as I am, can you see me?'

Then comes this lingering shame of being not enough.

The worthiness to FEEL ALIVE, regardless of the amount you have in the bank, regardless if you are a public figure or a being living with no social connections, to be ALIVE in your breath, your very presence of the wonder of life each moment. The way the sun shines through the window or the way the fire warms your toes when you place them closer .

I LIVE for that soul self worth and long to call it out in everyone. I can see how often I had ignored my own soul and heart for MORE rather than resting in the delicious moment to moment reality. I come in and out and with my passion and now I refuse to buy into the worthiness that is accumulated through others approval and gaze.

To look within and see the divine shining through. SO YES…

YOU ARE SO WORTHY.

I feel some of you out there, those who lost jobs, struggling financially as this old system slowly decays, the ones that still have not ‘ found’ their purpose, have not packaged your offering into a ‘ brand’. Sorry but F@ck it! If only you knew how perfectly amazing you are. Yes even while you sit on your couch and binge, or feel lost.
If you catch yourself feeling unworthy again, look deep inside and hug yourself. Realise that you are such a precious soul and you are ENOUGH.
